IDENTITY

It may not be apparent but there is a serious battle for your well-being.  Our focus off of God and on to our own disposition is a dangerous area and concentrates on our own strength that is never satisfying and always changing. The more we identify with worldly aspects, the more empty we become. Only Christ can fill a hungry heart.

1 CORINTHIANS 16:13

Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong.

JAMES 1:12

Blessed are those who remain steadfast  under trial, For when you stand through the test, you will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love Him.

MATTHEW 6:26

Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly father feeds them. Are you not more value than they?

IDENTITY CRISIS

It seems as though the search for one's self is becoming more and more strenuous. As many influences around us begin to shape our perception on who we are- who God truly calls us to be seems to get lost under the rubble. We go through this life trying to shape ourselves in our own strength and effort by believing what the media and even our own careers have told us to be. What if these this things were suddenly wiped away? Would we still be as happy and joyful? Life is full of temporary highs which in turn allows ourselves to crash and burn. Who are we then? People are walking lonely and helpless lives because they don't understand their God given identity and purpose. Thus, satisfying ourselves with partying, drugs, sex, and any other form of pleasure.

Christ is for you. Always has been, and always will be. This is not some blanket statement learned in Sunday school but rather a testimony of His great love for us. The Bible says we are more precious then rubies (Proverbs 3:15). Can you imagine that? Letting go of our sinful desires is not easy. In fact, we can't do it alone, but God has given us every tool to overcome the world if we just trust in Him and believe that the cross was enough.

WHO YOU ARE

1) You were bought with a price. Therefore honour God with your bodies. 1 Corinthians 6:20

2) I am the temple of the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 6:19

3) For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight. Ephesians 1:4

4) And in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is head over every power and authority. Colossians 2:10

5) I am called to according to His purpose. Romans 8:28

6) What then shall we say in response to these things. If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:3

7) For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. Colossians 3:3

8) For we know our old self was crucified with Him so that the body ruled with sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin. Romans 6:6

9) Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. Colossians 3: 2-3

10) I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Galations 2:20

11) We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes no matter who we are. Romans 3:22

12) For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glory. Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. Romans 3: 23-24

TO NOTE

These are simply a few scriptures to ignite your true identity that God has placed on your life. There is a re-occurring theme of 'dying to self' that is spoken of in the Bible and in these scriptures. What does this mean? How can one perish one's self? The New Testament is a pivotal point in Christian life. It is when Jesus restores our lives that was once separate from Him. This previous life was bound by sin and was induced by the enemy (Satan) from the time in the Garden with Adam and Eve. Jesus dying on the cross and being raised back to life gives us new life and hope. Comparatively, once we choose to live out the fullness of Christ, we must crucify our sinful nature and be raised with Him in the same Spirit. We are born again through Christ and will thus live out in His complete fullness and promises.

A new life has begun. The old is gone.

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, the new has come!" ~ 2 Corinthians 5:17

I once was lost but now I am found.  Was blind and now I see.  Amazing grace.
