If Love is the Answer, What is the Question?
The month of February is submerged in colours of pink and red often reflecting the heart of Valentine’s Day. However, understanding the heart of Christ and His intentions is a notion worth celebrating all year round.
We often give consolation and empathy to one another by saying, “God loves you,” but what does this actually mean? Taking a look back at early scripture writings, the love of Christ has always been evident and clearly depicted such as;
“The Lord makes salvation and deliverance evident and shows loving kindness to all His people forever,” (2 Samuel 22:51).
God has always had a plan for His people to one day love Him but has never forced Himself in our hearts. By sending His son Jesus to die on the cross, He took our place and wiped our sinful slate clean if we eventually decide to choose Him. This gift of grace is the ultimate expression of God’s loyalty, purity, and mercy extended towards His people. Now, to be reflected in human relationships of brotherly concern, marital fidelity, and adoration of God. It is the total embodiment of Christ.
In New Testament context, Romans 5:8 tells us,
“God shows His love for us that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
It is interesting to note that the Gospel is the only story where the hero dies for the villain. This act of selfless love is for all mankind and He is waiting with open arms. God loves YOU. It may sound overrated, repetitive, or even cliché for some, but our heavenly Father is overflowing with love for YOU and it is clearly manifested in His promises for us.
For God loved the world so much that He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through Him. - John 3:16
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 8: 38-39
Surely, Your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever. - Psalm 23: 6
As believers, He is walking with you, guiding your steps and making crooked paths straight. Take courage friend, you are loved more than you know or could even fathom and His Word remains steadfast and pure for you.
Roses are red, and violets are blue; our God is faithful, and He loves YOU!
And so, we leave you with this word,
“But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness,” Psalm 86:15.
