Be Aware of Prayer
First and foremost, Happy 2019 to each and every one of you! We hope that 2018 was filled with growth and transformation into His identity, and that 2019 will be overflowing with peace and joy from our Father. God is so good to us!
As the New Year starts to trickle in, thoughts of how we can improve or reinvent ourselves often dwells in our minds, depicting the person we want to be. The New Year is a benchmark to alter the old person we once were and derive some sort of change for the future. These goals can range from anything and everything, but probably one of the most common is weight loss. Physical fitness is an important aspect for all of us, but takes an especially coercive precedence in January via New Year’s Resolutions. Even prior to the New Year, this objective of physical fitness captures much of our time and attention. The truth is, many of us spend time eating organic, dieting, training, going to boot camp on Saturday mornings, have memberships to fitness clubs, and jog every day; investing into our bodies the best that we can be. As a society, we place a lot of emphasis on our physical body and keeping it in top shape…which is great! Subsequently, we may be missing what truly fills our body, soul, and Spirit.
Real, whole, and pure change comes down to Spiritual fitness as it enables us to recognize and understand the new identity we have in Christ, and to live out this good news in our day to day lives. How well we respond to adverse situations is measured by how much of our mind is renewed to the truth of Jesus and how much we let certain trials in our life govern our behaviour and perspective. Similar to our physical bodies, we must we willing to set aside time in our day to exercise this focus on Christ and understand where He wants us to be and what He wants us to do. If not, we may become so far from the Father that our Spiritual health becomes weak, frail and failing to promote life.
With that being said, food is to the body, like prayer is to the Spirit promoting spiritual wealth and goodness. Praying is a command from the Father (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, Philippians 4:6-7, Ephesians 6:18-19). It gives Christ adoration, and helps to discern His will. We are also made overcomers through prayer and petition, given the ability to come against invasion for our welfare and overall state of mind.
Friends, we need to start incorporating prayer into our lives every day. There is a Spiritual epidemic that is engulfing Western society and attempting to remove Christ out of everything we do. Prayer doesn’t have to be complicated, and can often be prepared through a heart of gratitude and thankfulness. It’s time we build strength and endurance through prayer and realign our focus on things that truly give us life and to continue in perseverance in Christ.
Right now we pray for continued revelation from the Father of who you were called to be, and boldness to proclaim the righteousness of God everywhere you go.
And so, we leave you with this word,
“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer,” (Romans 12:12).
