Unrecognizable
With Easter being in April this year, we decided to take a glance at this pivotal time in history for this month’s blog post. The death, burial, and resurrection of Christ are essential in establishing the fundamental foundations of our faith, because if it wasn’t for Resurrection Sunday; what we believe means nothing.
More specifically, post resurrection of Jesus is the miracle that our faith abides by. Through Him, we too can make the choice to lay our life down, bury the past, and rise up into our new, clean, pure identity, which has been made sanctified through Easter Sunday.
After Jesus rose form the dead, His encounters with the familiar people He associated with prior to His death were interesting…they didn’t recognize Him! Some of these people were those who walked with Him every day before He died. In this idea alone, we can draw some important aspects of the ’born again’ lifestyle Jesus made for us and this concept of being ‘unrecognizable.’
When we accept Christ as the Lord for our life, we become transformed. We are not saying you will grow three heads, but life as you knew it will look different, and this type of thinking will also look different to the people around you. For instance, old habits and desires that seemed morally right in the past, may be seen in a different way; a way that is dangerous to your well-being. So, when you come to a place of seeing things the way God sees them, it may not make sense to the people around you or the people you are closely affiliated with. Your behavior, your thinking, your choices, and your desires, your habits, and ultimately YOUR way of living life becomes unrecognizable! Hallelujah!
Unrecognizable towards some, but fully seen by Christ. What an honour and privilege it is to have our past and mistakes hidden in Christ with this gift of grace.
Easter Sunday or Resurrection Sunday isn’t just a once a year holiday that we celebrate in the Spring. It is something we live out each day of our lives once we lay our life down for God. He will continue to motivate and guide us if we listen closely to the plan Christ has for us and when we abide in Him. God made us in His image by giving us a way to transform in His image; a new way.
Let’s continue to live out this new identity each day by learning about our wonderful God whose heart is always for us. Thank you Jesus!
And so, we leave you with this word,
“Knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin,” (Romans 6:6).
