Is It A Crisis Or Are We Just Christ-Less?
Welcome to 2021 folks! This blog marks the kickoff to a fresh new year; hopefully we can meet this year with new perspectives, goals, and growth in our relationship with Christ.
No one can deny that there is a lot going on in the world right now. We are constantly bombarded with new information from every angle and with that, our conversations have quickly turned to focus on events going on in the world. Can you blame us? The world currently looks a bit different than what we are accustomed to. Over the past year we have seen economic, social, and medical crisis in a variety of ways.
What does this mean for YOU? How are you doing with this world that seems to be on shaky ground? Has it shaken your faith? These current events can really shape our thoughts, opinions, and what we deem as just, right, or proper. It seems like a huge divide is starting to shape up in just about anything we base an opinion on. This in itself destroys relationships in ways we could never think of. At the end of the day, everything that is going on is simply a distraction to the things that really matter.
Friends, we really need to start being aware that the value of Christ in our society is disintegrating at a rapid pace. We’ve said it before many times, but the real pandemic is an identity crisis that has slipped into our lives long before Covid came about. Everything is not okay, and not everything is truth; although it could be true. With that being said, people are walking around more confused than ever. They are confused as to who God is, and with that, try to justify everything going on in their lives based on their own ill accord. When God is left out; this becomes a lethal cocktail. When Christ is pulled out of schools, policy, and in families, the outcome surely is chaos, confusion and crisis!
Scripture tells us,
“For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. They will reject the truth and chase after myths," (2 Timothy 4:3-4).
There are so many distractions this day in age, and one could argue the most we’ve ever seen in a long time. Outside of the regular media frenzy going on right now, social media has also taken an adverse turn. People are divided, isolated, offended, depressed and operating on low self-esteem in both of these mediums.
The Bible also tells us,
“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour,” (1 Peter 5:8-9).
Wake up! We cannot keep wasting time on filling our heart, mind, and spirit with the things of this world that bring confusion, and pull us away from Christ. We truly have to keep searching for truth in everything we lay our focus on. Truth does not have to manipulated, altered, changed or made to be more palatable over time. Truth is truth and will continue to stand the test of time despite what this world throws at us. The more we invite Christ into our lives and let Him guard our attention, there is absolutely nothing that can steer us away from peace, redemption and a life that actually makes sense.
If you are facing a personal crisis or are just disappointed with what you see around you in this place at the moment, know that at the end of the day, we are still winning, and has already been won. Know that Team Jesus wins all day. Every. Single. Day!
And so, we leave you with this word,
”Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth,” 2 Timothy 2:15.
