Reap What You Sow

Judge a book by its cover is an absolute no, but how do you grow if you do not analyze the fruit you bear?

Let’s unpack this further.

If you really sit back and reflect on the life you are living, what kind of fruit is it creating? Are you plagued with anxiety? Pride? Do you overindulge in the ways of the world? Do you bend the rules of sin? Whatever the case, rest assured that the result of a situation, mindset, or identity is directly related with how you nurtured them in the first place. For instance, if you are surround yourself with company that is not walking with the Lord, your life will become a direct reflection of this adverse lifestyle, shaping your thoughts, behaviour and morals. If you don’t cut the weed at the source, it will in fact overtake you.

Jesus tells us,

”For no good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit.  Each tree is known by its own fruit, for figs are not gathered from thorns, nor are grapes picked from a bramble bush.  The good man out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil man out of his evil treasure produces evil; for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks,” (Luke 6:43-45).

Having a life that produces good fruit comes down to obedience. How much do you want to live out the true Gospel of Christ and lay your life down? We often convince ourselves that we have surrendered fully just because we declare we are Believers, have Bible studies or share cute Christian quotes on social media. But if our lives are actually deteriorating how is this a reflection of Christ? Are there still stumbling blocks or weeds in our lives preventing us from living the life Christ has called us forth in? It’s time to lay it all down at the foot of Jesus. Don’t let the plague of the “grey area” prevent you from walking in the fullness of God. The Bible has absolutely no room for the dreaded grey area because God is not the author of confusion and He certainly doesn't sit on the fence with anything He promotes.

At the end of the day, the fruit your life produces is correlated with the choices you make. A tree either produces fruit or it doesn’t. The Gospel has no room for the dreaded grey area. You’re either in, or you’re out. Grey doesn't work anymore. In fact, it never did.

And so, we leave you with this word,

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it,” (John 1:5).
