Splitting The Sea For Me
We all have moments in our lives where we wish God would move in a certain way. We can see what the end result could be like if only God would move on our behalf faster than what we see. This period of waiting is daunting, discouraging and can be down right depressing when we shift our focus off of God.
Is God actually listening to our prayers? Does He hear us as we cry out for Him? Does He really see us in our times alone trying to keep it all together?
Waiting is hard, and our instant gratification culture doesn’t do us any favours in this department.
We need to ask ourselves, “Who am I becoming as I wait?”
Are we becoming more bitter, more self loathing? Or do we seek to find joy amid taxing circumstances?
We all have to walk through stuff in our lives, but we also need to learn how to pray, trust, and yield to the Father during these times of intense silence or waiting.
Waiting. Trusting. Praying.
Sounding cliche yet?
We’ve all had these words beaten over our heads, and as a result we often become unhinged. These 3 words are not anything new or riveting, however most people get this area of “waiting” wrong and end up in some pretty dark and confusing places.
God doesn’t waste time! And He definitely doesn’t waste YOUR time.
Waiting builds character, persistence and trust and sometimes it’s the only thing that can really build an impartation in us. It grabs our attention, our thoughts, builds resilience and redirects our motive.
If we find ourselves becoming bent out of shape as we wait, we obviously have some maturing to do.
Even when situations look completely far gone, the Father is able to turn it back to where it belongs. Even if it takes hours, days, years, or a lifetime, God’s word is still true; either on this side of heaven or not. It’s time we tilt our face to the goal of establishing relationship with the Father, regardless of circumstance.
When we think about God’s timing, let’s remember the story of Lazarus being raised to life. When our eyes see the last possible second, God sees the beginning. Still even in death, God is able to work out the details.
If you are in a place of waiting for your sea to be split apart, be encouraged that God wastes no time and will continue to build you up when He sees fit. We need to be honest with ourselves to identify the moments in our lives that have a tendency to shake us. We all have them and we all have to work out the kinks in this area. In the meantime let’s continue to pursue the Holy obligation planted inside us of directing our attention to the motive of the Father.
And so, we leave you with this Word,
“Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains,” (James 5:7).
